(English) 2.1.1 Horizontal cuts
(English) Players are initially taught to receive the ball either as they cut towards the ball or as they cut towards the basket. On a cut towards the ball, facing the basket is usually done with a forward pivot. More experienced players and teams will utilize “horizontal” cuts, often from one wing to the other wing.
(English) The offensive player also needs to be able to catch the ball and immediately dribble, heading in the direction of their cut.
It is most effective when the defender is trailing the cutter and the passer is ahead of the cutter. The cutter will often curl and dribble to the basket.
