Use an activity at practice that emphasises players getting open to receive a pass. What techniques do your players use the most? Is there any difference between what they do at practice (and what is successful) and what they do in a game (and what is successful)?

Discuss with your assistant coaches or a coaching colleague any discrepancy that you observe and whether or not you need to change what is done at practice.

What footwork do you teach players to use when catching the ball? Discuss with a coaching colleague what they teach.
