Discuss the following statements with coaching colleagues:You cannot effectively play zone defence unless you understand the principles of “help line” man to man defence.It is important for young players to develop the ability to beat their player and to drive to the basket, and to then make the lay-up. That’s why zone defence should not be played with young players.When a trapping defence gets beaten it usually results in a lay-up. That’s why teams should not play trapping defences.
Do you prefer for your teams to play a trapping defence in the full court or in the half court? What are the reasons for your preference?
